TDAI's Computational Health & Life Sciences community of practice will host TDAI affiliate faculty member Mi Zhang, associate professor and the director of AIoT and Machine Learning Systems Lab, Computer Science & Engineering, who will present a seminar talk on his work. Further information below.
The talk will be on Zoom only.
Abstract:
Health is identified by the National Academy of Engineering as one of the Grand Challenges for Engineering in the 21st century. As an emerging area targeting this challenge, the development of ubiquitous computing technologies for healthcare and wellbeing applications has tremendous potentials to transform existing healthcare system to deliver personalized healthcare seamlessly in our everyday lives.
In this talk, I will demonstrate how we unlock the potential of AI-empowered mobile technologies to advance health and wellbeing. First, I will present our work on developing a deep learning-based mobile pill image recognition technology that won the champion of the NIH Pill Image Recognition Challenge. Second, I will present our work on developing a deep learning-based real-time speech enhancement algorithm for miniature hearing aid devices which won the Third Place of NSF Hearables Challenge. Third, I will present our efforts on utilizing the power of mobile devices and AI to tackle mental health problem which is one of the most challenging health problems in our society.
