Assistant Professor, Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology, College of Arts and Sciences
Professor Chavez studies the evolutionary and ecological processes that promote diversification and speciation. In particular, he is interested in the genetic bases of adaptation and reproductive isolation between species. His questions in biology are often inspired by natural history and he has an integrative research program that synthesizes data from molecular, ecological, and behavioral studies.
