TDAI launches yearlong theme on AI and social measurement
How can researchers use artificial intelligence to better understand public opinion and human behavior? More than 75 Ohio State faculty, students and staff gathered on October 15 to explore that question at the kickoff symposium for TDAI’s yearlong theme, “Rethinking Public Opinion and Social Measurement in the Age of AI.”
The initiative, led by Ryan Kennedy and John F. P. Bridges, brings together researchers from across disciplines to examine how AI is changing social measurement and develop opportunities for collaboration.
Bryan Orme, CEO of Sawtooth Software, delivered the keynote address on AI in survey research. Ohio State researchers also shared projects using AI in areas ranging from health care to cognitive interviews and ethnographic research.
In an afternoon discussion, attendees identified ways to support the emerging research community, including connecting potential collaborators, sharing methods and resources, and providing hands-on training. Their feedback will help shape future activities and funding efforts through the initiative.
