AI in Your Research Workshop Series: Building Research Capacity Across Ohio State

TDAI Data Scientist Alex Davis

This week, TDAI successfully launched the first session of our new AI in Your Research Summer Workshop Series, beginning with Generative AI in Your Research (May 20–21). The workshop brought together members of the TDAI community and researchers across Ohio State for a hands-on, application-focused learning experience centered on practical AI integration in academic research.

Through direct work in Python environments and real-world research workflows, participants explored how tools like Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, document processing, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) can enhance literature reviews, streamline analysis, and support more efficient research practices.

These workshops reflect TDAI’s continued commitment to serving both our membership and the broader university research community by expanding access to emerging AI skills, practical training, and interdisciplinary research innovation.

We’re excited to continue this momentum with our upcoming sessions:

📍 Machine Learning in Your Research
May 27–28, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pomerene Hall Room 350 (Project Zone)

📍 Computer Vision in Your Research
June 3–4, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pomerene Hall Room 350 (Project Zone)

As AI continues to reshape research across disciplines, TDAI is proud to help equip Ohio State researchers with the tools and knowledge needed to apply these technologies in meaningful, responsible, and impactful ways.
