Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming how people communicate, form opinions, make decisions, and interact with institutions. This symposium brings together scholars, learners, and research partners from across Ohio State to explore the opportunities and challenges AI presents for understanding public opinion, behavior, beliefs, and social systems.
The symposium will launch an 18-month interdisciplinary project funded through the Ohio State Translational Data Analytics Institute (TDAI) Big Ideas Initiative. The project aims to build a visible and durable community of researchers and stakeholders interested in the future of social measurement in AI-environments, and to position Ohio State for future collaborative research and external funding opportunities.

Morning (8:30 AM – 12:30 PM)

Afternoon (12:30 PM – 4:30 PM)
- Lunch
- Facilitated breakout discussions focused on: existing methodologies and research practices; opportunities and challenges presented by AI; and collaborative opportunities and potential funding mechanisms
- Sharing and prioritization of ideas
- Discussion of next steps
