Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

The OSU Carpentries Team is hosting a Data Carpentries workshop on May 24, 25, 27, and 28 from 1 PM to 4:30 PM. The Carpentries teaches skills that are immediately useful for researchers, using lessons and datasets that allow researchers to quickly apply what they have learned to their own work. This workshop is focused on the libraries, and the curriculum will include:

  • OpenRefine
  • Introduction to Git
  • Tidy Data
  • Webscraping*

The target audience is learners who have little to no prior computational experience, and the instructors put a priority on creating a friendly environment to empower researchers and enable data-driven discovery. Even those with some experience will benefit, as the goal is to teach not only how to do analyses, but how to manage the process to make it as automated and reproducible as possible.

Space is limited, so register soon to reserve your seat! There is no fee for the workshop. For more information, please visit the workshop webpage: https://tdai.osu.edu/education/osu-carpentries. Registration link here: https://osu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3fIC0K1KCVbJwk6.
