Byrd Center lecture: "Deep Learning in Earth and Climate Science from Satellite Imagery"
The Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center will host a talk by Professor Joachim Moortgat from the School of Earth Sciences entitled "New Tools for Old Problems: Deep Learning in Earth and Climate Science from Satellite Imagery." Dr. Moortgat develops and applies new deep learning algorithms that are optimized for vast collections of satellite imagery, which are greatly expanding our ability to monitor the Earth's changing surface.
