Donneyong awarded R01

TDAI core faculty Macarius Donneyong (pharmacy, public health) has received an R01 award from the National Institutes of Health for the proposal "Significant high order drug interactions in the emergency department setting among older patient population."

For the project, the multidisciplinary team will combine data mining approaches to discover drug-drug interactions involving at least three drugs and pharmacoepidemiologic methods to ascertain the real-world comparative safety of exposure to these drug-drug interactions. The team will apply expert review to clinically validate the clinical outcomes observed among patients exposed to drug-drug interactions involving three or more drugs.

In addition to Donneyong, the team includes

  • Pengyue Zhang (other MPI, Indiana University School of Medicine's Department of Biostatistics)
  • Katherine Hunold (co-I, OSU College of Medicine's Department of Emergency Medicine)
  • Kathleen Unroe (co-I, Indiana University School of Medicine)
