Interdisciplinary Pilot Awards


TDAI supports new team science, scholarship and creative expression with Interdisciplinary Research Pilot Awards that, in addition to funding for direct costs, include in-kind resources, services and benefits as well as funding for direct costs.

While all topics are welcome, TDAI has particular interest in research in the following areas:

  • AI and Health
  • Responsible Data Science
  • Environment and Sustainability
  • Smart Mobility
  • Foundations of Data Science and AI


Award components

TDAI Interdisciplinary Research Awards can include:

  • Up to $50K for direct costs
  • Access to:
    • Ohio Supercomputer Center start-up support
    • Data commons storage and sharing
    • Space in Pomerene Hall
  • TDAI data services and consulting
  • Undergraduate and/or graduate students
  • Workshop/conference design, hosting and facilitation



Through its campus-wide Interdisciplinary Research Enabling Initiative, TDAI also partners with other OSU entities to support big data-enabled pilots in areas of shared interest by providing access to an even greater array of resources:
