AWS launches data center region in central Ohio

Amazon Web Services has launched a new data center region in Ohio that could help enable Ohio State to advance research and education.

In a video welcoming AWS to Ohio, Ohio State President Michael Drake acknowledged the importance of public-private partnering, data analytics, and cloud technology in solving global challenges.

“Our scientists are addressing challenges and achieving breakthroughs across all disciplines—from food security to medical care to bringing big ideas to market,” he said. “Vital to this is connecting our faculty, students, and discoveries with partners in the business community, often leveraging big data and cloud technology.”

In September, AWS and TDA teamed up to present the AWS Agriculture Analysis in the Cloud Day at Ohio State in tandem with the Farm Science Review. In November, AWS will also sponsor HackOHI/O.
