New to Ohio State this semester is an online Certification in Practice of Data Analytics. Taught by statistics and engineering faculty, the four-course program helps working professionals develop knowledge and skills that support the management and use of big data. Students in the program learn to collect, clean, model, and report data; build data products; and analyze data to support informed decision-making.
“Data analytics is increasingly essential to every industry in one form or another,” says TDA Interim Faculty Director Raghu Machiraju, PhD, professor of computer science and engineering and biomedical informatics. “The online CPDA will allow professionals working in healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and other fields to enhance their core competencies with a highly marketable skillset.”
The CPDA courses—in Foundations of Statistics, Data Mining, Machine Learning and Optimization, and Visual Analytics for Sensemaking—each require approximately 40 hours of coursework over seven weeks. The CPDA program can be completed in less than one year. Students more interested in targeted learning also have the option to take single courses.
