TDA Fall Forum recap

TDA@OhioState’s inaugural Fall Forum Oct. 8 was a success, exploring the myriad roles data analytics plays in advancing health, food production, materials manufacturing and sustainability, and our ability to communicate and understand complex concepts.

Featured talks in the afternoon included Columbia University’s Tony Jebara, PhD, on machine learning; Surya Kalidindi, PhD, of Georgia Institute of Technology on hierarchal materials informatics; and Robert Kosara, PhD, from Tableu Software on data visualization. TDA@OhioState members Randi Foraker, PhD, and Laura Kubatko, PhD, discussed their use of data analytics in creating a health visualization tool and protecting East African cassava plants from whitefly infestation, respectively. And the morning poster session featured presentations by 28 Ohio State faculty, post-docs and students and a preview of TDA@OhioState’s future home in Pomerene Hall.

A special thanks to all of the presenters and attendees who participated in the program.
