iPlant workshop March 17-18
Date: March 17, 2016
Location: Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center

The MCIC Computational Biology Laboratory (MCBL) will host a two-day iPlant Workshop March 17-18 for anyone whose research concerns genetics big data. The workshop will highlight bioinformatics tools and services for RNA-Seq, Assembly and other big data biology applications available at iPlant Collaborative.

iPlant was established by the U.S. NSF in 2008 to develop cyberinfrastructure for life sciences research for data-intensive biology driven by high-throughput sequencing, phenotypic and environmental datasets. The organization is lead by the University of Arizona, Texas Advanced Computing Center, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and University of North Carolina and provides powerful platforms for data storage, bioinformatics, image analyses, cloud services and more.

Despite the name, iPlant tools are broadly applicable across the life science disciplines, including animals and microbes.

The workshop will be held in Wooster at OARDC’s Fisher Auditorium North Exhibit Area. Space is limited to 40 participants, so advance registration is encouraged.
